HISTORY OF DELTA GAMMA
Linda Braun, a graduate student, embarked on researching Sigma Theta Tau to learn more about the organization its goals and its purpose. In May of 1976 Linda wrote to Sigma Theta Tau headquarters to request information on starting a new chapter. Under the direction and encouragement of Sister Rosemary Klein, Dean of the College of Nursing, the formation of the Honor Society began to be formed. The steering committee consisted of Dr. Lorraine Wallenborn, Dr Ardene Brown, Dr. E. Charlotte Theis, Jelena Bjelic, and Linda Braun.
In mid-April of 1977 the first eight-six charter members of the Nursing Honor Society, Marquette University were inducted. On September 15, 1977 Linda Braun became the first President of the Nursing Honor Society, Marquette University.
The first research day sponsored by the Honor Society was held in Fall 1978. The Honor Society was awarded their greek letters of Delta Gamma Chapter in 1980.
The Chapter averages induction of qualified members each Spring, inducting approximately 50-80 undergraduate students, 10-20 graduate students, and 5-10 community leaders. This active organization supports citywide research utilization and practice seminars.
