Theta Tau Research Award Grant Application Announcement
Maximum Award: $3,000 for one year

The Delta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau is now accepting
applications for a research grant to be awarded Sunday,
April 25, 2010 at the Induction Ceremony.
Eligibility and Requirements:
- Active member of Delta Gamma Chapter
- Ability to carry out the proposed research: Beginning
researchers need to have a qualified advisor.
- Research must be completed one year after the presentation
of the award.
- A written copy of the completed research must be submitted
in the spring of 2011.
- The grant recipient may be required to present the
completed research at the annual chapter research conference
or general meetings.
- Funding will not be provided retrospectively for research
completed or near completion.
Application Process:
Submit an electronic copy of the research proposal (as
an e-mail attachment) that includes:
- Title page with name and credentials
- Title page without name and credentials (for blind
review)
- Brief Bio sketch
- Introduction, background, significance
- Problem statement
- Brief theoretical framework (if appropriate)
- Hypotheses or research question(s)
- Methodology
- Timetable
- Budget
- References and appendices (include copies of instruments/interview
guides; organizational support letters – e.g.,
access to research subjects, resources, etc.)
- Documentation of IRB approval, if necessary
Limit length to no more than 6 pages, double spaced (excluding
title page, budget, references, and appendices), and typed
in 12 point font with 1 inch margins.
All applications will be evaluated using a blind review
process. The recommendation of the Research Committee is
submitted to the Executive Committee of the Delta Gamma
Chapter for the award decision.
Applications should be submitted no later than Monday,

Past Award Recipients
Kristin Haglund, PhD, RN, PNP — received a STT-DG grant
in 2006 for the study proposal titled, "A qualitative Study
of the Sexuality of Adolescent Males." Presenting a poster
of this study at the 2009 Midwest Nursing Research Society Meeting
on March 29, 2009 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Josephine Mancuso, ARNP, PhD(c) — a doctoral student from
Marquette University received a STT-DG grant in 2007 for the
study titled, "The Association of Health Literacy and Patient
Trust to Glycemic Control in Management of Diabetes." Poster
presentation at 2008 Midwest Nursing Research Society Meeting
in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Leslie Gardiner, PhD(c) — doctoral student from Marquette
University (with Margaret Bull, PhD, RN, FAAN, as her sponsor)
received a STT-DG grant in 2007 for the study titled, "Meaning
of Spirituality for Persons with Dementia".
Linda Gingras, MSN, RNC, Mary Strehlow, MSN, RNC, Linda Templin,
RN, and Polly Ryan, PhD, RN — a research team at Froedtert
Hospital received funding from STT-DG in 2007 for the study titled, "Determinants
of Nurses' Professional Self-Presentation".
Anthony Lathrop, MSN, CNM, PhD(c) — a doctoral student
at Marquette University (Leona VandeVusse sponsor) received a
STT-DG grant in 2008 for the study proposal titled, "A Narrative
Analysis of Perinatal Hospice Stories". |
